One of the nice things about the Canadian SF community is that we are all friends. Rob and Ed both were guests at my wedding to Liz – Ed sang for us during the ceremony. I’ve known Barb for years and she is currently one of the editors at On Spec; I met her co-author at World Fantasy Convention when it was held in Calgary. Speaking of Calgary, Leslie and I were long time members of the well-known writing group, the Imaginative Fiction Writers’ Association, based in Calgary and better known as the IFWits. Leslie currently writes interactive murder mysteries for Pegasus Performances – a gig that both I and Liz held in previous years. So I will be happy no matter who wins – but I’ll be happier if it’s me!
The official list for all the categories hasn’t been posted yet but it will be here soon and voting will begin as soon as they are. I do know through the grapevine that quite a few of my other friends have also been nominated. The Aurora Awards will be presented this year at KeyCon in Winnipeg during the May long weekend. Hope to see you there.
